Status: draft, pending legal review. Version 2026-10-13-draft. Nothing on this page is final until that review is done. If the wording changes, the version changes, and you are asked to accept the new version before you share or judge again.

These terms apply when you do either of two things with MediationBench, which is operated by Human Assisted Intelligence, PBC (“HAI”):

  • Share a conversation. You upload the transcript of a real conversation, mediated or not, on Share a conversation .
  • Judge conversations. You read benchmark conversations and rate them on Human judging .

You accept them once, from your hai.ai account, before you do either. HAI records which version you accepted and when.

What you grant

  • You keep ownership. What you submit, a transcript or a rating, stays yours. You can reuse or license it to anyone else.
  • HAI may use it as it sees fit. You grant Human Assisted Intelligence, PBC a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, combine and create derivative works of what you submit, for any purpose. That includes benchmarks, research, public datasets, published findings, product development, and training or improving AI models. The grant is non-exclusive: HAI claims no exclusive rights.
  • You have the right to grant it. You confirm that what you submit is yours to share, and that sharing it breaks no contract, confidentiality duty or other person’s rights.
  • Use is not guaranteed. HAI may use what you submit, or not use it at all, and does not confirm whether or how a particular submission is used.
  • Credit, best effort. If HAI uses your submission in something public, it will try to credit you, but does not promise to.
  • Voluntary and unpaid. Sharing and judging are optional and unpaid, unless HAI agrees otherwise with you in writing.

Sharing a conversation

What it is for. HAI asks for real conversations to check whether its AI judges read conversations the way people do: whether a judge’s reading matches what happened, and whether it can tell progress from noise. That is the reason we ask. The licence above is broader, so a shared conversation may also be used in the other ways it allows.

When you upload a conversation, you confirm three things:

  1. Everyone agreed. Every person in the conversation, on every side and any mediator, agreed to share it with HAI for this use.
  2. Identifying details are removed. You removed names, places, dates, employers, contact details and anything else that could identify a person before you uploaded it. HAI may remove more, but does not check for you.
  3. You have the right to share it. As above.

What you may not share:

  • conversations involving anyone under 18;
  • conversations covered by a confidentiality duty, such as court-annexed or contractual mediation;
  • conversations about an active legal dispute;
  • sensitive personal data, such as health, sexual life, religion, immigration status or criminal records, even with names removed.

What you can upload. One text transcript per upload, as a .txt, .md or .json file of up to 1 MiB. No audio or video.

What happens to it. The file is stored at hai.ai with a record of who shared it, which version of these terms they accepted, and the three confirmations above. It is never published as you sent it. Human checks never change the leaderboard.

Withdrawing. You can withdraw a conversation you shared from the same page. It is marked as withdrawn at once and is no longer used for new work. When the file itself is deleted follows HAI’s retention policy, which is pending the same legal review. Results already published in aggregate are not recalculated.

Judging conversations

  • Transcripts are confidential. The benchmark conversations you read are not published. Do not copy, save, screenshot or share them.
  • Your ratings. Your ratings and notes may be used under the licence above and published in aggregate. HAI does not publish your name with them unless you agree.
  • Conflicts of interest. Tell HAI if you have one, for example if you work at a lab whose mediator is on the leaderboard. HAI may limit or end access.
  • Access. Reviewer access is granted, and may be ended, by the operator at hai.ai/admin.
  • Ratings never change the leaderboard.

Everything else

These terms cover sharing conversations and judging on this site. Your use of hai.ai itself is governed by the HAI.AI Terms of Service . Scenario contributions have their own terms on Contribute .
